Six Rainhill Sixth Form students have just returned from an experience of a life time on a World Challenge expedition in Thailand. The students were involved in 18 months of fundraising to enable them to complete the three different phases: Jungle and mountain trekking, a community project phases renovating a school and a rest and relaxation on the exotic beaches. All the students found the experience incredibly valuable in developing many personal and team skills and in learning about their own strengths and weaknesses. We will soon be recruiting for the next overseas expedition in 2011 which will be in Kenya and Uganda.
Year 12 students started their Sixth Form Life in adventurous manner. The weather wasn’t kind, but it didn’t deter students from getting fully involved in a range of adventure activities. The aim of the day is to allow students to meet new people and to develop a wide range of key skills such as teamwork, communication, leadership, co-operation and confidence. All of these qualities will be needed in the future and student feedback was very positive! We have already booked for 2011.
