Introduction to Fashion Design & Clothing


QUALIFICATION: BTEC NATIONAL DIPLOMA IN FASHION DESIGN

This is a new and exciting course that will allow anyone interested in fashion and design to enter into this industry. You design and make your own creations. From initial idea all the way through to retail, you will work with industry professionals, to turn your creative talent and ideas into reality. If you have a creative mind and a flare and interest in this industry this is the course for you.

This qualification is equivalent to 2 A-Levels.


Teaching & Assessment


60% Assignments and 40% Controlled Assessment.

1. Assignments: Set and marked by the centre and externally moderated. Students complete a series of practical, tasks set in a work-related scenario.

2. Controlled Assessment: Set and marked by the exam board.  Students respond to a pre-released brief or complete an online examination.


Vocational Progression


Students can progress onto any University course that emphasises creative learning. There are also many career opportunities including Fashion Designer, Costume Designer, Fashion Buyer, Fashion Stylist, Fabric Technologist, Fabric Testing, Freelance Designer, Footwear Designer, Smart Technologist, Fashion Merchandising and Window Dresser.  Alternatively working in the Media, Magazines or Television as Film Set Designer, Theatre Designer, Costume Restorer, Fashion Journalist, Fashion Photographer or working on  exhibits for Museums and Galleries.
