Why choose Rainhill?

I’m delighted that you are interested in joining Rainhill Sixth Form and would like to welcome you to our website. As you will see, it is packed full of information relating to the wide range of courses and activities that you will be interested in as well as recognition of outstanding achievements by many our previous students.

I believe that Rainhill Sixth Form Centre is quite simply one of the best places in the country to study. It is full of energy, ambition and potential. As a student you will be treated as a professional and you will develop the knowledge, skills and attributes that are essential for your next steps in life, whether that be at a University, on an apprenticeship or in employment.

We are very successful, not least because we are a small Sixth Form. This gives us the opportunity to get to know you well and work with you as an individual. We pride ourselves on tailoring support to meet the needs of each student and as we are a small centre nobody gets lost as just another face in the crowd. We have a strong leadership team who have a variety of different roles which means that we can offer personalised support to ensure all our students are successful during their time with us.
We offer a full range of A-level courses and advanced level vocational qualifications and you will see detailed descriptions of each of these courses later in the prospectus.

We are very proud of our impressive track record of success and in educating and equipping our students to fulfil their dreams and aspirations whatever their desired direction in life.

We believe that following ingredients are what makes Rainhill Sixth Form Centre so successful;

• Our Excellent Examination Results
Every year we achieve excellent A-level results. Independent groups have recognised these results as being one of the best in the country. A-level results have been graded in the top 10% of all a level providers. Our Vocational courses have placed us in the top 20 colleges of all post 16 providers, with BTEC Applied Science being the best in the country.

• Our Small Class Sizes
On average we have twelve students in every class. This allows our staff to give personalised support to every student and to ensure that all students make the progress they need to secure excellent exam results. One to one seminars are routine. Our teaching can be geared around you.

• Teachers who Care about YOU
We know you as individuals, and treat you as such. Staff are always available to offer subject support to ensure that any gaps in knowledge are dealt with early, so avoiding future problems. This dedication to our students in supporting their progress sets us apart from other colleges. We know your strengths and weaknesses and work with you to ensure you achieve your goals.

• Personalised Support
Our Sixth Form Pastoral support is outstanding. We provide one to one help with your UCAS application. Each student has a form tutor who supports them during their two years in our Sixth Form. All our form tutors are trained in providing advice to our students around their next steps and take particular interest in the progress of all of their students.

• Arts and Science Academies
Getting into the top Universities to study science or the arts is very competitive. The Science and Arts Academies provide a package of additional opportunities to strengthen your University applications.
Since their inception, all of our Science and Arts Academy students have been offered a place at their first choice university course.  This, we know, is down to the excellent experiences, understanding and additional qualifications gained as being part of either the Arts or Science Academy.

How does this benefit our students?

For the last 3 years, every student who has wanted to go to University has been successful in gaining a place at either their number one or second preference university course.

More than a quarter of all our Sixth Form students go to Russell Group Universities.

In addition to this, all of our students who want to get a high level apprenticeship have gone on to do just that.

Although we are a small Sixth Form, we offer a full range of courses in a supportive environment. We have high expectations of our students; our job is to enable them to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. I would encourage you to study our prospectus and seek advice and guidance from our teachers and our Sixth Form staff.

We hold annual open evenings each November that are open to everyone.  Alternatively, please do contact me any time to arrange a visit.
